meade telescope, lx200r telescope, meade lx200r telescope, meade, mead, telescope, meade opticsThe Meade LX200R telescope delivers an outstanding, professional viewing experience with optics that have never before been available to the average astronomer. The LX200 Meade telescope has historically proved to be the most popular researcher’s choice and now comes with the most advanced optical system available, Advanced Ritchey-Chretien optics, as used by nearly every observatory reflector worldwide.

The LX200R Meade telescope includes all the features previously available with the LX200 including GPS, Meade ultra-High transmission optical coatings, AutoStar II, SmartDrive, SmartMount and the Zero Image-shift Microfocuser but has the added advantage of observatory-class optics and a series 5000 26mm 5-element Plossl eyepiece.

The advanced f/10 Ritchey-Chretien optics are a perfect choice for the demanding researcher or the serious enthusiast alike. The UTHC optical coating increases image brightness by almost 20% when compared to the standard Meade optical coatings and the Zero Image-Shift Microfocuser ensures precise image focus.

With the LX200R Meade telescopes comes an oversize primary mirror which is ¼” larger than the telescopes aperture. This feature ensures a fully illuminated, wide field of view.

A feature designed for astrophotography is the primary mirror lock which locks the mirror smartly into place.

To ensure accurate and quick alignment the LX200R has features such as GPS, Smart Mount (which constantly refines the pointing accuracy every time a sky object is centred and updated), Smart Drive (which provides error correction on both axis), AutoAlign (pre-alignment so that you new telescopes knows the sky as soon as you remove it from the box) and AutoStar II controller which provides access to a sky object database of 145,000 objects.

*UHTC Optical Coatings
The greater the light loss the less clear an image will be and it is not only Aperture that plays an important role in ensuring the maximum amount of light, lens coatings are also immensely important.

Meade’s UHTC (Ultra-high transmission) coating makes a significant impact on the amount of light which is retained, increasing light transmission by almost 20%, with the increase in brightness being up to the equivalent of an additional inch in lens diameter, depending on the size of the telescope.

**AutoStar Controller

AutoStar is a computer guided controller which can find planets, stars, nebulas and more at the push of a button. Pick what you want to see and press the button. If you haven’t a clue about what you want to view just take the guided tour. Autostar comes complete with built in encyclopedia so you can learn everything there is to know about what you are viewing.

The importance of Aperature

The larger the Aperature the greater the amount of light is gathered and the brighter the image therefore, for the clearest viewing, buy the largest aperture telescope that you can afford. The size of aperature is generally considered more important than magnification as there is little point in magnifying and object that is unclear.

Double the aperature and you can quadruple the amount of light that it gathered so bigger is better. The only downside to larger aperatures is that they become less portable so you need to balance size with portability depending on your needs.
